Wednesday, October 19, 2022 - Members from Onondaga County, the Town of Clay and others gathered on Wednesday to celebrate the groundbreaking of J.W. Didado Electric’s new facility in at the corner of Morgan and Wetzel Roads in Clay.

J.W. Didado makes their CNY debut with a Clay office and truck maintenance facility that will headquarter their New York operations. The 12-acre site and 24,000 SF facility will employee 18 people full-time and will be a base and dispatch center for J.W. Didado’s storm team. The facility is set to be completed in the fall of 2023.

Speakers at the groundbreaking included County Executive McMahon, President of J.W. Didado, Dan Sublett; President of Briarwood Construction, Gary Didado; and CEO of VIP Structures, Meg Tidd. President of J.W. Didado, Dan Sublett cited the proximity to the airport, local dining and entertainment, along with recent economic development achievements in Onondaga County as draws to the area.

Since being elected to office in 2018, County Executive McMahon has led the way in securing huge economic successes for our community including JMA Wireless on the South Side of Syracuse, Amazon in the Town of Clay and most recently, Micron.

Headquartered in Akron, Ohio, J.W. Didado is a nationally renowned, full-service electrical contractor providing high-performance solutions to residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and large utility customers. Serving customers in 23 states, they now employ more than 700 people making them one of the largest and most successful electrical contracting companies in the U.S.

The project team includes Briarwood Construction, an Akron based firm owned by Gary Didado. Gary was the long-time president at J.W. Didado before retiring this past year. VIP Structures, a local integrated architecture, engineering, construction and development firm who is the design-builder on this project has been working with J.W. Didado since the site-selection phase.
