TOWN OF CLAY ENERGY COMMITTEE
Energy Committee Report for December 2009
Energy Audits on Town owned buildings have been completed. The
Town was able to take advantage of a National Grid program in order to upgrade the old lighting and lighting fixtures
in Town owned buildings, beginning with the Highway Garage. We also had the Senior Center, Euclid storage barn,
concession stands, as well as the new Town Hall audited as part
of this project. We are hoping to finish work on the pole barns and Highway Garage before the end of the year. The result will be energy efficient lighting throughout all of the buildings, with significant savings for the Town in both energy and expenses.
Representatives from the Town's Energy Committee attended an informational meeting hosted by National Grid in late November 2009, to learn about new ways to improve
energy efficiency. We will be putting a link below for residents who are interested in learning more. We are also meeting with vendors and asking for proposals
that will save on the Town's energy consumption, with regard
to printing and faxing. This will provide a reduction in paper usage as well.
The Supervisor has
contacted other Town leaders in order to share information with them with regard to the energy saving programs mentioned above. To date Supervisor Ulatowski has been in touch with 18 other Supervisors, as well as all five Fire Departments that service the Town of Clay. We have heard from the Moyers Corners Fire Department that they have completed energy audits on two of their buildings and expect to see significant savings in energy usage and cost.
It is our sincere hope that everyone will be able to take advantage of these
programs. The Energy Committee will provide regular reports on the progress of these and future projects, and will
continue to look for additional ways to implement energy conservation measures into the future.
